Alice Gowler
Hello! I'm Alice, a developer who loves building fun and whimsical projects at hackathons. When I'm not at a hackathon, I'm probably working on my homelab or enjoying nature.
My Projects
Meow Jam
A cozy little webapp built for Aston Hack 2025 to visualise music and explore the design language of the indie web. The static site is currently hosted on my home server usng a caddy docker container.
🎓 Interactive Visualisation of Smart Home Data for use in Assited Living
A full stack web application developed for my final year dissertation project, focusing on visualising smart home data to assist in elderly care.
🥈 Smoothie-o-matic 5000
Winner of the Second Place prize at HackNotts 24, this project was sparked by the question of "What if you could make a smoothie without leaving your sofa?" It uses a Raspberry Pi to control a blender and host a react web interface, allowing you to make smoothies with the push of a button.
Recipify
Spotify meets cooking! A web application built for HackTheMidlands 7.0 that makes finding the soundtrack for your meal easy. Seach for recipes and get a spotify playlist too! Deployed on my home server using a custom docker image.
JukeMash
Inspired by TV quiz show Hit List and Jackbox party games, JukeMash is a music quiz game powered by Spotify built for hackSheffield 9. Players connect to a game hosted by another and buzz in to guess songs.
🏆 Image from Images
How it all began! My first hackathon project, built for HackNotts 21 and winning Best First Time Hacker. An app to recreate images using other images, inspired by the mosaic Nottingham University sign. Uses K-means clustering to identify dominant colours in images.
